Neerja Bhanot22 Years Old. One Brave Decision. Hundreds of Lives Saved.A Legacy of Courage and Sacrifice

🌟 Who Was Neerja Bhanot?
Who was the 22-year-old young woman who faced armed terrorists without fear?
Who chose courage over safety and humanity over her own life?
Neerja Bhanot was a senior flight purser on Pan Am Flight 73. On 5 September 1986, when terrorists hijacked the aircraft in Karachi, she calmly alerted the cockpit crew, preventing the plane from taking off. But that was only the beginning of her bravery.
As chaos spread, Neerja hid passengers’ passports to protect them and helped many escape. In the final moments, she shielded three children from gunfire and was fatally shot. Her actions helped save more than 300 lives.
At just 22, she became the youngest recipient of India’s highest peacetime gallantry award, the Ashok Chakra.
Neerja’s story is not just history—it is a powerful reminder that true heroes don’t wear capes; they wear courage.
